Nearly two months after getting cut from the UFC, Efrain Escudero’s unemployment days are already a thing of the past. The former “The Ultimate Fighter 8” winner has signed a multi-fight deal with Shine Fights.
“Going to Shine is the first step to becoming a world champion,” Escudero said. “As far as my career goes, things happen, and I don’t live in the past. I’m excited to get this show in the road.
“Shine, here I come!”
Escudero was last seen getting submitted by the undefeated Charles Oliviera at “UFC Fight Night 22.” Although he held his own against the talented youngster for much of the fight, the crafty up-and-comer hopped on his back and secured a rear-naked choke for the upset victory.
“I’m very excited to have Efrain sign on with us,” said Shine Fights COO Jason Chambers. “I have tremendous confidence in his abilities, and look forward to seeing him make waves in our growing lightweight division.”
Although his recent 1-2 record isn’t anything to write to Mexico about, Escudero is still one of the sport’s more recognizable athletes courtesy of his stint on TUF. Shine quickly swooped in on he opportunity and will look to capitalize on Escudero’s marketability and upside.
Shine did not report the specifics of the contract or when Efrain will make his debut for the organization.
