WEC Featherweight Champ Urijah Faber

Excessive weight cutting in the sport of mixed martial arts is commonplace. A fighter losing double-digits in order to hit their required mark the day before showtime is SOP among the sport’s elite.

However, athletes that drop close to 20lbs typically compete in the larger weight classes because they physically have more to lose. Urijah Faber tipped the scales yesterday for his WEC 52 bantamweight bout at 136 pounds.

Fast forward 10 hours and “The California Kid” has ballooned back up to 153 pounds, which would technically make him eligible to fight in the lightweight division.

The former WEC featherweight king was so amped about tonight’s scrap against Takeya Mizugaki, he was up at 2AM filming a vlog for his fanboys.

Faber flaunts his plush suite at the Palms, then weighs in one final time to show how massive he intends to enter the blue cage this evening.

Although he wasn’t able to calculate his total weight gain on the spot, it totals out to a whopping 17 pounds. Not to mention the fact he still has all day to pack on more pounds.

WEC 52 takes place tonight inside the The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. Versus will broadcast the main bouts live beginning at 9PM ET/6PM PT.
