Although the Octagon’s graphics department hasn’t updated the official “UFC 125: Resolution” event poster, it hasn’t stopped the company from shuffling the card’s lineup around.
Josh Grispi’s New Year’s wish will be to co-headline a UFC card in 2011. His opportunity was nixed after featherweight champ Jose Aldo abruptly went down with an injury.
Unfortunately for the 22-year-old, he not only finds himself demoted from the co-featured contest, but Grispi’s has been pulled from the televised portion of the pay-per-view broadcast altogether.
According to UFC.com, the light heavyweight battle between Brandon Vera and Thiago Silva will now appear on TV.
At the same time, the spot was found money for Grispi. He earned second-to-last billing when Shane Carwin was forced to withdraw from the co-main event with Roy Nelson to undergo back surgery.
The January 1st show takes place inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada and features a lightweight title bout between champion Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.
According to the website, Chis Leben vs. Brian Stann will now serve as the opening act for the 155-pounders.
Here is the card’s revised lineup:
Antonio McKee vs. Jacob Volkmann
Daniel Roberts vs. Greg Soto
Mike Brown and Diego Nunes
Phil Baroni vs. Brad Tavares
Josh Grispi vs. Dustin Poirier
Marcus Davis vs. Jeremy Stephens
Takanori Gomi vs. Clay Guida
Nate Diaz vs. Dong Hyun Kim
Brandon Vera vs. Thiago Silva
Chris Leben vs. Brian Stann
Gray Maynard vs. Frankie Edgar (UFC Lightweight Champion)
