UFC Welterweight Champ Georges St Pierre

Georges St-Pierre successfully completed the first-half of his “The Ultimate Fighter 12” mission Wednesday night when his two top dogs advanced to the finals of the lightweight tournament, ensuring that one of his protégés would win the crown.

This Saturday, Jonathan Brookins and Michael Johnson will vie for the highly coveted six-figure UFC contract inside The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. Spike TV will broadcast the “TUF 12 Finale” beginning at 9PM ET/PT.

Brookins, who was the second fighter selected by Team GSP, earned his spot by handing teammate Kyle Watson a lopsided unanimous decision loss in the semifinals of the 155-pound tourney.

To avoid showing any favoritism, the welterweight champ wouldn’t allow himself or his coaches to corner either of his students.

Nam Phan represented the only member from Team Josh Koscheck to make it to the final four. He and Johnson put one 15 of the most exciting minutes in TUF history. Their back and forth battle resulted in a controversial split decision win for Johnson.

The wrestler was St-Pierre’s #1 pick in the draft.

St-Pierre can complete the last leg of his mission by beating beating Koscheck at UFC 124 on December 11th.
