Today could possibly mark the most MMA coverage a California State Athletic Commission meeting will ever garner. Chael Sonnen and Josh Barnett are both scheduled to face the firing squad on Thursday regarding their flunked drug screenings.
Sonnen produced high levels of testosterone following his impressive submission loss to middleweight champ Anderson Silva at UFC 117. The chatty challenger had plenty to say leading up to their August showdown, but became eerily silent since the results were brought to light.
In addition to his tarnished reputation, Sonnen is also staring a September 2, 2011 suspension and $2,500 fine dead in the eyes.
Barnett, on the other hand, was busted for his alleged PED abuse all the way back in July 2009. That was when the controversial heavyweight single-handedly took down Affliction Entertainment with his failed pre-fight exam.
Sonnen and Barnett are scheduled to appear at approximately 1:15PM PT/4:15PM ET.
