Guess who Nam Phan hopes Santa Claus gives lumps of coal to this Christmas? That would be none other than “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale” judges Adalaide Byrd and Tony Weeks after the pair watched a completely different fight than everyone else inside The Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night.
Actually, the Vietnamese-American is quite the gentleman. So he would probably suggest giving them some gift certificates to Herb Dean’s MMA seminar. The award winning referee’s academy schools the uneducated – ahem – on the ins and outs of the complicated sport of mixed martial arts.
Phan appeared to do more than enough in his UFC debut to edge Leonard Garcia for a decision victory, however Byrd and Weeks had other ideas.
If you think this is just some biased blogger babble, it’s only because the “Bad Boy” was spearheading the BS parade himself after the dubious decision was rendered.
“I’m sorry, guys. Hey, I call it the same thing,” Garcia admitted as the crowed rained down a chorus of boos. “I’m saying it on national television [that I shouldn’t have won].
“I’ll fight Nam again and let you guys decide next time. I took this fight one-and-a-weeks notice.”
Apparently, Byrd and Weeks were copying off each other’s scorecards. According to Kevin Iole of Yahoo!, both officials gave Garcia the first and third rounds.
“Asian brother can’t get some love, man,” a flabbergasted Phan expressed after the decision was announced.
Actually, Junichiro Kamijo was in the Holiday spirit. He was the only judge to award Phan with the obvious win.
