UFC President Dana White

UFC president Dana White has been accused of being many things during his controversial – yet highly successful – reign as MMA’s Tony Soprano. Two things the brash promoter can’t be called this Holiday Season is stingy or blind.

Following Nam Phan’s WTF split decision loss to Leonard Garcia at “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale” in Las Vegas, White tried to make things right by stuffing the Vietnamese-American’s stocking with his win bonus despite technically losing.

FightHype was the first to report on White’s generosity late Sunday night. Phan confirmed his unexpected commission on Monday with MMA Hour.

Phan appeared to do more than enough in his UFC debut to edge the “Bad Boy” for a decision victory. However, two-thirds of the judges sitting inches from the action watched a completely different fight than everyone else walking God’s green earth, including White.

A shocking (29-28, 27-30, 29-28) split decision was subsequently rendered and the controversy caravan went into full swing once again.

Phan’s win bonus amount was not disclosed. However, the UFC typically awards victorious fighters by duplicating their ‘show’ purse. Those figures should be released by the Nevada State Athletic Commission within the coming days.
