UFC 126: Silva vs. Belfort” was officially announced Tuesday by the world’s premier mixed martial arts promotion.

Some Brazilian-on-Brazilian crime will be going down inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. A middleweight title scrap between king Anderson Silva and challenger Vitor Belfort will headline the February 5th fight card.

Belfort earned his top contender status by slapping former champ Rich Franklin silly in a 195-pound catchweight bout at UFC 103. Although he has never competed at middleweight inside the Octagon, company officials were adamant about arranging a shootout between he and “The Spider.”

The 185-pounders were originally scheduled to meet at UFC 108 in January 2009, however that was postponed due to complications with Silva’s recent elbow surgery. Their appointment then got pushed back to UFC 112, but this time it was Belfort that was forced to withdraw with a shoulder injury.

Following his miraculous come-from-behind victory over Chael Sonnen at UFC 117, Silva revealed he had severely injured his ribs just six days before showtime. He’s been on the mend ever since the August bout.

Based off the official event poster, a light heavyweight bout between Rich Franklin and Forrest Griffin will co-headline the pay-per-view broadcast. Up-and-comers Jon Jones and Ryan Bader will play third fiddle in the star-studded extravaganza.

UFC Fight Club members will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for UFC 126 this Thursday, December 9th starting at 10AM PT/1PM ET via UFCFightClub.com. A special Internet ticket pre-sale will be available to UFC Newsletter subscribers on Friday, December 10th starting at 10AM PT/1PM ET.
