Although Sean McCorkle has been busy blasting Stefan Struve on Twitter, the lanky heavyweight has remained fairly mum. That’s mainly because Struve believes “Big Sexy’s” insufficient resume says it all.
Although McCorkle owns an unblemished 10-0 record, with all but one of his scraps ending via devastating finish, the 22-year-old claims his UFC 124 rival isn’t quite ready for the big leagues.
“He hasn’t fought a big name in pro MMA yet,” Struve matter-of-factly told 5thRound.com. “He picked his opponents before he got to the UFC, and Mark Hunt lost his last six fights.
“That isn’t a big deal to beat someone that lost his last six fights.”
If McCorkle’s 63 second disposal of the former PrideFC legend at UFC 119 didn’t impress Struve, then you can forget about the other nine victories he’s stockpiled outside of the Octagon during his five-year career.
“He’s 10-0, but if you look at the guys he’s fought, it’s not hard to be 10-0,” Struve expressed. “You can go 50-0 fighting guys like that. It’s good for your experience in getting into the cage to fight, but he’s in the UFC now and he can’t pick his opponents anymore.
“That doesn’t mean anything to me, though. He’s fighting me now and that’s the most important thing. He’s going to have a big problem on [Saturday].”
The 265-pounders co-headline the UFC’s end of the decade bash tomorrow night inside the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The pay-per-view broadcast kicks off at 10PM ET/7PM PT.
