After unleashing a Twitter tirade on Stefan Struve prior to Saturday’s UFC 124 showdown, Sean “Big Sexy” McCorkle quickly and quietly disappeared into the night following his 1stRound TKO loss. Since his cyber bulling ways made him a name in the Octagon, it was only fitting he address his fans via the popular social network.
“To answer a lot of you with 1 tweet, the pressure got to me, and I choked. Felt like I couldn’t breathe the minute the fight started,” McCorkle tweeted Sunday. “Also, I thought the stoppage was early, but probably wouldn’t have made a difference anyway.
“Congrats to Stefan.”
Although Big Sexy donned a perfect 10-0 professional record, he entered his second Octagon outing as a slight underdog against the submission specialist. Despite what the Gambling Gods professed, McCorkle overwhelmed his lanky counterpart for the better part of the opening round.
Unfortunately for chatty heavyweight, MMA contests tend to last longer than four minutes. Struve pulled off a slick reversal and landed in top position. A few bombs to the dome later and McCorkle’s resume is now blemished.
“Seemed like I was in his league for the first 3 1/2 minutes of the fight,” McCorkle added. “I put pressure on myself to win because I despise losing at anything. The talking is all to build interest in the fight.”
Struve’s unexpected rally earned him his second consecutive Octagon victory. The 22-year-old quietly, yet violently, bumped his record to an impressive 21-4 inside the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
McCorkle did not attend the UFC 124 post-fight press conference, but had some parting shots for his detractors.
“Oh, lastly, all my haters on here, I’m way better, cooler, better looking, and funnier than any of you. I’ve not yet begun to talk trash,” he posted.
