Shawn Tompkins with Wanderlei Silva at Xtreme Couture

Shawn Tompkins became Head Trainer and Gym Manager of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas back in August, but Saturday will be the first glimpse of Tompkins’ affect on the Xtreme Couture roster as IFL Stars Jay Hieron, Alex Schoenauer and Chris Horodecki are all fighting in the IFL Grand Prix. Shawn Tompkins use to be Horodecki’s coach in the IFL, but when Tompkins joined Xtreme Couture IFL President Kurt Otto decided to released the coach.

Kurt Otto claimed that Tompkins wasn’t spending enough time with his Los Angeles Anaconda team, and this his coaching at Xtreme Couture was the root cause of that. No replacement has been found for the Anacondas yet, but Tompkins is doing just fine.

According to the Xtreme Couture Blog, Tompkins brought the aforementioned Horodecki, as well as UFC veterans Mark Hominick and Sam Stout to Xtreme Couture which already had an impressive list of fighters before adding what Tompkins brought with him.

As you see in the picture above, this is having an affect on the rest of the fighters as well. When you have top level fighters in one camp, it makes it easy to get your training, just ask Wanderlei Silva. In preparing for his December 29th showdown against Chuck Liddell, Silva has used Xtreme Couture as his base for training. Who could blame him? When you can save yourself time and gas, why not have the bulk of your training in one place.

Between Randy Couture and Shawn Tompkins, there’s no doubt that the fighters at Xtreme Couture have a leg up on the competition.
