WEC Lightweight Anthony Pettis

Anthony Pettis emerged on the mainstream scene after his captivating documentary on MTV’s “World of Jenks” this past September. Following his highlight reel running-kick off the fence at WEC 53, ESPN.com has now taken the liberty of plastering his face across another several million monitors.

“Showtime” lived up to his moniker Thursday night inside the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona. After dazzling the pro-Ben Henderson crowd with his scintillating skills for much of their 25-minute affair, the 23-year-old saved his best trick for last.

With the WEC title hanging in the balance and only a few ticks remaining on the clock, Pettis pulled a “Showtime Kick” out of his magic hat. What’s that you ask? It’s what the new UFC lightweight top contender dubbed this:

Although he wasn’t able to end their instant classic with the OMG WTF kick, he left Arizona with the WEC crown, nonetheless.
