The heavyweight bout between former IFL stud Ben Rothwell and Chase Gormley, which was originally slated to take place this weekend at “Affliction: Trilogy,” has been signed for UFC 104 on October 24th inside the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Rothwell holds an impressive 30-6 record, taking 16 of his last 18 scraps. He rebounded nicely from a 3rdRound KO loss last July to Andrei Arlovski at “Affliction: Banned” by subbing Chris Guillen with elbows in the 1stRound of their Adrenaline MMA II bout last December.
Gormley was an NAIA All-American Wrestler for Lindenwood University. He holds a perfect 6-0 mark, however that has been against the who’s-who-is-this of MMA. Rothwell will clearly be the toughest test of his young career.
Affliction Entertainment canceled their third mixed martial arts event late last week after Josh Barnett tested positive for an anabolic steroid in a pre-fight screening. His choices left the company and its fighters hanging just 10 days before the event was set to jump off.
