Frankie Edgar Expected to Lose Title at “UFC 125: Resolution”

UFC Lightweight Champ Frankie Edgar

If the Gambling Gods prove correct, Gray Maynard will be dancing the New Year’s Day night away with Frankie Edgar’s lightweight title. Once again, the undersized/overachieving champ will be an underdog when he enters the biggest fight of his life.

Edgar holds a practically perfect 13-1 record and is fresh off sweeping former king BJ Penn for arguably 10 championship rounds. He’s also rattled off five straight wins since his convincing unanimous decision loss to Maynard in April 2008.

Despite what his resume reads, the Jersey boy isn’t expected to take the bling-bling belt back to the Shore with him. Edgar will step into the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada a +115 ‘dog this Saturday at “UFC 125: Resolution.”

Edgar defied the odds and posted back-to-back W’s on the man most considered to be the baddest 155-pounder of all time. Can he complete the trifecta and continue to provide gamblers with some longshot lovin’ in the New Year?

It will be interesting to see how the line moves as game time approaches.

Here are the Edgar vs. Maynard II wagering odds (Courtesy of Bodog.com):

Gray Maynard -145

Frankie Edgar +115
