After the first Octagon event of 2011 wrapped, UFC president Dana White awarded Clay Guida, Jeremy Stephens, Gray Maynard and Frankie Edgar each $60,000 for their special performances on New Year’s Day at “UFC 125: Resolution.”
Stephens laid Marcus Davis out cold in the 3rdRound of their lightweight affair with a vicious right. The devastating strike earned the slugger ‘Knockout of the Night’ honors and a cool $60k.
Guida pocketed his commission by submitting former PrideFC champ Takanori Gomi in their highly anticipated showdown.
As expected, the main event fighters put on the best show of the evening. Although their scrap was marred in controversy, Edgar and Maynard will leave Las Vegas with a nice New Year’s Day gift, nonetheless.
“UFC 125: Resolution” took place inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Nevada.
