Earlier today, Thiago Alves’ former conditioning coach suggested the UFC welterweight may be having some lunch-time liposuction to go alongside his Dolce Diet. After suffering a major hiccup in making weight for his UFC 117 bout against Jon Fitch, the 27-year-old responded by obtaining the services of Mike Dolce to help monitor his food intake.
Under Dolce’s watchful eye, the behemoth Brazilian had no issues tipping the scales last month for his UFC 124 showdown with John Howard. Andre Benkei claims to have heard his prior protégé ditched him not only in favor of the Dolce Diet, but a cellulite sucking machine as well.
After catching wind of Benkei’s comments, Alves’ manager Malki Kawa relayed a message to FightersOnly on his client’s behalf.
“It is sad to see a friend defame me, my achievements, and my training partners because of a relationship that didn’t work out between me and my strength and conditioning coach.”
In addition to missing weight for his pivotal scrap with Fitch, Alves was also suspended in 2007 for taking a banned diuretic to help him lose excess weight. Furthermore, he weighed-in at a whopping three pounds over the limit for his UFC 85 contest against Matt Hughes in June 2008.
Alves is rumored to face Rick Story on a yet-to-be announced UFC 130 show on May 28th.
