As expected, the heavyweight showdown between MMA icon Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic and the up-and-coming Brendan Schaub has been officially announced for “UFC 128: Shogun vs. Evans.”
Schaub was last seen taking a unanimous decision win over Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 121 in October. It was the Brazilian’s last bout for the company.
“The Hybrid” posted a perfect 3-0 mark in 2010 and owns a 7-1 record overall. His lone blemish came to Roy Nelson in the finals of “The Ultimate Fighter 10.”
“Cro Cop,” on the other hand, was reluctant to pull the trigger against Frank Mir at UFC 119 and suffered a KO loss because of his conservativeness. The Croatian has gone a mundane 4-4 inside the Octagon.
UFC 128 takes place March 19th from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua will defend his light heavyweight title against Rashad Evans in the night’s featured contest.
Here are the fighters rumored/expected to participate in the pay-per-view broadcast:
