It isn’t the announced signing most MMA fans were hoping for, however bringing back your former light heavyweight champ that can pack butts in seats is still a good thing. According to Tito Ortiz’ Myspace page, UFC president Dana White will be welcoming him back during today’s 11AM PT call.

“A new beginning starts tomorrow,” Ortiz blogged on his MySpace. “I have stood my ground as a fighter and business man. Now my fans will get to see the best of me. New back, new mind, and new motivation.

“The future of my career will be made tomorrow. I hope you will be as happy as I am. Let the Punishment Begin!!!!!”

Ortiz has been a free agent since losing to Lyoto Machida at UFC 84 last May. Although he has been on the sidelines since October recovering from back surgery, he has remained in the headlines with his “close to signing a contract with another organization” announcement which never came to fruition.

For Ortiz, all signs still point towards the Octagon. The only place he has ever called home.
