On the heels of Saturday’s spectacular “Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Cyborg” event, the San Jose, California-based promotion has started filling out the roster for their debut in Columbus, Ohio. The March 5th show will be headlined by a light heavyweight title bout between MMA icon Dan Henderson and champ Rafael “Feijão” Cavalcante.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker confirmed the hotly rumored contest over the weekend.
Speaking of announcing championship affairs in the Buckeye State, Miesha Tate posted on her Twitter late Sunday night she will also get a crack at some new jewelry when she challenges Marloes Coenen for her 135-pound crown.
Cavalcante has rattled off three straight wins en route to capturing the Strikeforce belt. The Brazilian overwhelmed Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal to win the title in his last outing this past August.
Henderson, on the other hand, looks to build off his December knockout victory over Renato “Babalu” Sobral that earned him next dibs.
Here are the athletes expected to participate in the Showtime broadcast:
