UFC Light Heavyweight Rashad Evans

Although Rashad Evans and Quinton “Rampage” Jackson didn’t compete this weekend at UFC 126, the former light heavyweight champs can’t stay out of the MMA headlines. While Evans’ knee injury and Rampage’s decision to decline a last-minute title fight were the topics of conversation, on Tuesday the focus shifted towards their rekindled rivalry.

According to Evans, the mortal enemies bumped heads last week in a Las Vegas nightclub. After giving Rampage a backhanded compliment on his controversial UFC 123 win over Lyoto Machida, things quickly got physical.

“I’ll fight Rampage right now. I almost fought him the other day. I seen him at XS,” Evans told MMA-30. “We got into each other’s face for a little bit and then this fool had the nerve to hit me. He slapped me (in my face).

“I slapped him back and then the bouncers came. That was that. He shouldn’t be playing by touching my face.”

Following their stint as opposing coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter 10,” Evans hung a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Rampage at UFC 114. After the disappointing loss, B.A. Baracus reiterated his hatred at the post-fight press conference by claiming “Rashad can still kiss my ass.”

Fast forward nine months and their beef appears to be sizzling hotter than ever.

Evans hasn’t been seen since his win over Rampage last May, and courtesy of a severely sprained MCL in his knee, he’ll be riding the pine for another 6-8 weeks.

Rampage, on the other hand, is tipping the scales at a whopping 250 pounds. He is just now starting to prepare for his rumored UFC 130 scrap against Thiago Silva on May 28th.
