According to MMAWeekly, Thiago Siva has suffered an undisclosed injury and will be forced out of his UFC 130 light heavyweight scrap against Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. Although Rashad Evans is currently sidelined with a knee injury of his own, it appears “Sugar” quickly accepted the May 28th appointment to face his mortal enemy.
Since posting an uneventful unanimous decision win over Rampage at UFC 114, Evans has been waiting for champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua to mend from his third knee procedure. They were set to do battle next month at UFC 128, but Evans revealed over the weekend he was stung by the injury bug and would allow teammate Jon Jones a shot at the brass ring.
Evans is facing a 6-8 week recovery period.
“The Ultimate Fighter 10” coaches rekindled their rivalry last week when Evans and Rampage allegedly engaged in a slapping session at XS nightclub in Las Vegas.
UFC 130 takes place inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The pay-per-view broadcast features a lightweight title fight between champ Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.
The former light heavyweight champs are expected to co-headline the star-studded event.
Here are the athletes rumored to participate in the extravaganza:
Travis Browne vs. Stefan Struve
Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story
Anthony Pettis vs. Clay Guida
Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann
Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Rashad Evans
