According to multiple reports, welterweight Carlos Condit has suffered a knee injury and will be forced out his “UFC 127: Penn vs. Fitch” contest with Chris Lytle.
SportsNet.ca was the first to report on “The Natural Born Killer’s” potential removal from the event, but Ariel Helwani confirmed Condit’s exit shortly after.
UFC 127 takes place February 26th inside the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia. Although a replacement is expected to be announced shortly, it’s possible the company could save Lytle for another day.
If the former “The Ultimate Fighter” contestant is shelved, the card will still carry a customary 11 bouts. Octagon brass were hoping to reward the Aussies with an extra scrap due to their record-tying ticket sales performance.
Condit owns an impressive 26-5 professional record and was last seen putting Dan Hardy to sleep at UFC 120 this past October. No word on the severity of his injury or how long he’ll be on the mend for.
