Strikeforce Heavyweight Champ Alistair Overeem

After a torrid several days of promotional activities, Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem capped off his week by hitting up ESPN’s legendary campus to appear as a guest on “MMA Live.”

Although Overeem won’t compete tonight at “Strikeforce” Fedor vs. Silva,” it didn’t stop him from providing analysis on the highly anticipated Heavyweight Grand Prix. When asked about this evening’s main event between Fedor Emelianenko and Antonio Silva, “The Demolition Man” didn’t quite concur with Fedor’s 5.5-to-1 favorite status.

“I think it is realistic, Fedor has lost his last fight,” Overeem said of ‘Bigfoot’ shocking the world. “Silva didn’t perform that well in his last fight, as well – although, he did win it. I think they are both going to be motivated. Silva is a big guy, strong guy. Fedor is a man with surprises.

“I would give it 60/40 to Fedor.”

Overeem will meet upset specialist Fabricio Werdum in the quarterfinals on April 9th. The winner will then advance to face Emelianenko (or Silva) in the tournament’s second round.

“Strikeforce” Fedor vs. Silva” takes place tonight inside the IZOD Center in New Jersey. The Showtime broadcast begins at 10PM ET/PM.
