UFC Light Heavyweight Matt Hamill

It appears the game of light heavyweight musical chairs will continue to play on for UFC 130. Just two days after reporting Quinton “Rampage” Jackson would rekindle his rivalry with Rashad Evans, MMAWeekly is now claiming Matt Hamill will instead face Rampage on May 28th.

Rampage was scheduled to fight Thiago Silva in the star-studded event. However, it appears Silva is having issues with the Nevada State Athletic Commission regarding his UFC 125 drug test.

After getting schooled by Evans in their highly anticipated UFC 114 showdown, B.A. Baracus went on to take a controversial split decision win over Lyoto Machida at UFC 123 this past November.

Hamill, on the other hand, was rumored to fight Phil Davis at UFC 129 in Toronto following his win over Tito Ortiz in October. It’s unknown if Davis will receive a new opponent for the historic event or be shelved for a later date.

Evans, whose management denied the rematch with Rampage from the jump, will continue to rehab his injured knee. He’s facing a 6-8 week recovery period.

UFC 130 takes place inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The pay-per-view broadcast features a lightweight title fight between champ Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.

Here are the fighters expected to participate in the show:

Travis Browne vs. Stefan Struve
Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story
Anthony Pettis vs. Clay Guida
Wanderlei Silva vs. Brian Stann
Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Matt Hamill
Gray Maynard vs. Frankie Edgar (UFC Lightweight Champion)
