Schaub, Akiyama and Miller Nominated for UFC 128 Tequila CAZADORES Spirit Award

UFC Heavyweight Brendan Schaub

The Octagon’s official hard liquor supplier has released the nominees for UFC 128‘s Tequila CAZADORES Spirit Award. The accolade is presented to UFC fighters who have demonstrated honor and integrity, both inside and outside of the cage.

These nominees have embodied the core values of social responsibility, sportsmanship and dedication to mixed martial arts. Tequila CAZADORES will present a $1,000 check to the winner’s designated charity.

“UFC 128: Shogun vs. Jones” takes place inside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on March 19th.

Here are this round’s set of nominees:

Brendan Schaub

Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub is a former Colorado University football player who is known for his well-rounded fighting abilities. He was introduced to mixed martial arts by his father who is a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. Brendan feels very strongly about helping abandoned or harmed animals and has chosen to support the Colorado Humane Society & SPCA.

Yoshihiro Akiyama

Born of Korean descent in Osaka, Japan, Yoshihiro Akiyama first made his name in the international sports world as a decorated black belt in judo. Looking for a new challenge, Akiyama made his MMA debut in 2004 and has continued to build the stellar reputation as one of the best fighters in the world. His charity of choice is UNICEF.

Jim Miller

Jim Miller is one of the top lightweight fighters in the UFC and has previously held the Cage Fury Fighting Championships Lightweight Championship and the Reality Fighting Featherweight Championship. He has a seven month old daughter and has selected The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as his charity.
