The ink on Jorge Santiago’s UFC contract is barely dry, yet the middleweight has already been issued his first assignment. The Brazilian confirmed on MMAWeekly Radio Tuesday evening he will face Brian Stann at UFC 130.
Stann was last seen running through Chris Leben at UFC 125 on New Year’s Day. The former Marine owns a respectable 10-3 professional record.
Although Santiago owns an imposing 23-8 professional record, with 21 of his wins coming in the devastating finish variety, his skills are somewhat unknown to fight fans in America. The 30-year-old is hoping his second stint in the Octagon will be his final stop.
Stann was initially scheduled to face Wanderlei Silva in the May 28th show, but “The Axe Murderer” was reluctant to fight an American hero. No word on what the organization intends to do with Silva.
UFC 130 takes place inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Here are the fighters expected to participate in the pay-per-view broadcast:
Wanderlei Silva vs. TBD

Travis Browne vs. Stefan Struve
Thiago Alves vs. Rick Story
Jorge Santiago vs. Brian Stann
Frank Mir vs. Roy Nelson
Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. Matt Hamill
