After what went down with Nick Ring’s dubious unanimous decision victory over Riki Fukuda, fans should’ve seen the writing on the wall when UFC 127‘s headliners took center stage. After BJ Penn and Jon Fitch battled to a majority draw, Penn admitted he expected to hear an unfavorable verdict.
He spent the better part of the 3rdRound staring up at the Acer Arena ceiling, a five minute period in which he was out struck by a whopping 149-2 margin. Prior to getting mauled in the final stanza, Fitch connected on 59 total strikes to Penn’s 19.
Nonetheless, based off the 10-point must scoring system, two of the three judges sitting Octagon-side awarded Penn both the first and second rounds before awarding Fitch a 10-8 3rdRound.
UFC 127 took place inside the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia.
