If you’re one of those still griping over Saturday’s UFC 127 pay-per-view broadcast, the Octagon returns this Thursday with a freebie fight card. “UFC on Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann” takes place inside the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Versus broadcast features a pivotal welterweight affair between Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez.
Sanchez recently returned to the 170-pound division after a solid run at lightweight. However, following a title loss to then-champ B.J. Penn at UFC 107 he opted to move back up to the larger weight class.
The creator of the YES! cartwheel went on to lose a unanimous decision to John Hathaway at UFC 114, but rebounded last October for an impressive unanimous decision win over Paulo Thiago. After the victory, trainer Greg Jackson said his client would take at least one more fight at welterweight.
In steps the Dane. Kampmann dropped a controversial split decision to Octagon rookie Jake Shields at UFC 121. Prior to the loss, Kampmann posted a 4-1 record with wins over Carlos Condit, Jacob Volkmann and the aforementioned Thiago.
A critical middleweight scrap between Mark Munoz and CB Dollaway will serve as the card’s co-main event.
The Versus broadcast airs live at 9PM ET/6PM PT.
