According to multiple reports, Spike TV will kick off the “UFC 129: St-Pierre vs. Shields” festivities with two free preliminary bouts. The April 30th event takes place inside the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada and features a pair of championship affairs.
Jose Aldo makes his first UFC featherweight tile defense when he meets Mark Hominick in the card’s co-featured contest, while welterweight king Georges St-Pierre takes on Jake Shields in the night’s main event.
According to Heavy.com, Brian Foster vs. Sean Pierson and Nate Diaz vs. Rory MacDonald will air live on Spike TV beginning at 9PM ET/6PM PT. Don’t be surprised if the UFC and Facebook partner up to offer additional freebie fights, as well.
The UFC first offered the teaser for UFC 103 in September 2009 to help promote the struggling fight card, and the special proved to be an effective means of generating last-minute PPV buys.
