As expected, lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez will defend his crown against Pat Curran at Bellator 39 on April 2nd inside the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT.
“Returning to Mohegan Sun in Season 4 was a high priority for us – Mohegan Sun has a spectacular venue, a great gaming facility and a luxurious hotel. I’m really looking forward to our return,” said Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Putting together an incredible night of fights is only one part of the equation – having a great place to show it is the other and Mohegan Sun is the perfect venue for this event.”
Tickets are on sale now and priced between $75 and $35. Please contact the Mohegan Sun Box Office or ticketmaster.com for seats.
Doors will open at 7:30PM ET, with the first fight jumping off at 8PM ET. The MTV2 broadcast airs at 9PM ET/PT.
Alvarez and Curran were set to tango last October, but a shoulder injury forced the challenger out of the highly anticipated scrap. Alvarez went on to post a 2ndRound TKO victory over former UFC stud Roger Huerta in a non-title affair.
Curran earned his shot at the brass ring by beating Mike Ricci, Huerta and Toby Imada, respectively, in Bellator’s lightweight tournament.
Alvarez owns an impressive 21-2 record and is widely considered one of the best 155-pounders outside of the UFC.
In addition to the championship affair, the evening will also feature semifinal fights in their Season 4 Welterweight Tournament. Former UFC star Ben “Killa B” Saunders will also make his Bellator debut when he faces Matt Lee.
