According to Amanda Nunes’ manager, his client is the front runner to welcome superstar Gina Carano back to action on Strikeforce’s June 18th show inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
“We want her to fight more before fighting for the title, so we’ll fight Gina in June, who’s very respected in the US,” Zé Mário told Tateme.
Nunes owns an impressive 6-1 record, with all of her victories coming of the (T)KO variety. The “Lioness of the Ring” has been perfect since getting submitted in her professional debut in March of 2008.
Carano, on the other hand, has been pursuing a career in Hollywood since getting mauled by Strikeforce champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos in August 2009. The 28-year-old finally resumed training at Xtreme Couture last month.
Strikeforce will kick off the second leg of their Heavyweight Grand Prix this same evening. Showtime will broadcast the event at 10PM ET/PT.

Strikeforce matchmaker Shannon Knapp refuted the report and Nunes’ camp is claiming Mário is not her manager. It appears Tatame may have “misunderstood,” as Roger Clemens would say.

Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal vs. TBD
Gina Carano vs. TBD
Heavyweight Grand Prix (Quarterfinals):
Josh Barnett vs. Brett Rogers
