According to the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority, five “UFC on Versus 3” contestants, including featured fighters Diego Sanchez and Martin Kampmann, were issued medical suspensions following last Thursday’s show.
Neither Sanchez nor Kampmann can return to action until they receive medical clearance for various injurious sustained in their instant classic. Sanchez must have his battered face examined, specifically his left orbital bone, while Kampmann needs to get his right hand cleared.
Both welterweights have been issued temporary bans in the meantime.
Furthermore, Todd Brown, Thiago Tavares and C.B. Dollaway were all handed 60-day precautionary suspensions.
Oddly, the KBWA did not conduct any drug testing for the card. However, UFC vice president of regulatory affairs Marc Ratner told MMAWeekly that an independent screening was conducted at the show. Sanchez, Kampmann and four other random athletes were asked to take the exam.
“UFC on Versus 3: Sanchez vs. Kampmann” took place March 3rd inside the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky.
