For the first time in his last four outings, little Frankie Edgar is expected to leave the Octagon with his lightweight title wrapped around his waist.
Despite sweeping former lightweight king BJ Penn for arguably 50 championship minutes as a long shot, Edgar still entered his UFC 125 rematch with Gray Maynard as the underdog. After surviving an early 1stRound beatdown, Edgar unleashed the heart of a true champion and forced Maynard to go the distance.
While both 155-pounders swore they had each done enough to leave Las Vegas with the belt, two of the three judges thought otherwise and provided the ultimate New Year’s Day surprise. After 25 hotly contested minutes, Edgar and Maynard were forced to settle for a highly controversial draw.
UFC 130 takes place May 28th inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
