While it appeared as though Jon Jones barely broke a sweat in steamrolling Mauricio “Shogun” Rua to capture the light heavyweight title at UFC 128, the Octagon’s latest superstar was issued a medical suspension by the New Jersey State Athletic Control Board following Saturday night’s dominating victory.
Jones was placed on indefinite suspension pending an X-ray, MRI and orthopedic clearance of his right hand.
Shogun, on the other hand, is banned 60 days courtesy of his 3rdRound TKO loss. He is also suspended indefinitely pending a CT head scan.
In all, the NJSACB will force 10 “UFC 128: Shogun vs. Jones” contestants to ride the pine for various injuries sustained in their respective scraps.
Last night’s show took place inside the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
