It took Jon Jones 12 minutes and 23 seconds to dispose of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua at UFC 128 on Saturday night. “Bones” was a 2-to-1 favorite entering the biggest scrap of his life.
After witnessing what Jones did to capture the light heavyweight hardware in New Jersey, the Gambling Gods have significantly upped the price tag for him in his first title defense. Although a date has yet to be determined for his showdown with Rashad Evans, Jones has been pegged an early 5.5-to-1 favorite to retain his crown.
Jones was -280 when he faced Ryan Bader at UFC 126. It took him less than 10 minutes to hand Bader his first professional blemish last month in Las Vegas.
Evans enters his first championship affair since May 2009 as a whopping 4-to-1 underdog.
