After a night of freebie MMA action, the UFC awarded Chan Sung Jung, Johny Hendricks, Michael McDonald and Edwin Figueroa each an additional $55,000 for their special performances Saturday night at “UFC Fight Night 24: Nogueira vs. Davis.”
“The Korean Zombie” not only avenged his controversial 2010 split decision loss to Leonard Garcia, but he also executed the first twister submission in Octagon history. What may haunt “The Bad Boy” the most about his loss was the fact there was only one second remaining in the 2ndRound when he tapped.
Hendricks took all of 95 seconds to dispose of T.J. Waldburger and earn his Knockout of the Night award.
Although McDonald hung a lopsided (30-27, All Three Judges) unanimous decision on Edwin Figueroa, their bantamweight affair provided some thrilling back-and-forth action. Their 15-minute tango earned them each an extra $55K.
“UFC Fight Night 24” took place inside the Key Arena in Seattle, Washington.
