Yahoo! Sports is reporting that UFC President Dana White has decided to release Kalib Starnes from his contract after a very disappointing performance against Nate Quarry at UFC 83. Dana White was quoted as saying, “he just doesn’t belong in the UFC and after his performance the other night, he should consider a new line of work”.
Starnes lost by one of the most amazing unanimous decision scores that you’ll ever see in Mixed Martial Arts. There were no knockdowns in the fight, but the scores were very lopsided at 30-26, 30-27, and 30-24.
Quarry did everything he could to keep fans entertained, even mocking Starnes for the last 30 seconds of the fight. He also posted a bulletin on MySpace saying, “I did what I could to finish the fight, it’s just tough when someone is running the whole time.”
With the MMA landscape the way it is right now, there’s no doubt that Starnes will be picked up by a direct-competitor of the UFC but you can pretty much be guaranteed that we won’t be seeing Kalib Starnes in the Octagon for a very, very long time if at all.
