The world’s top-ranked pound-for-pound fighter recently confirmed on his official website that he has indeed signed a contract to fight Tim Sylvia on July 19th. Fedor Emelianenko has been inactive since the Yarennoka! event on HDNet Fights.

Neither a venue or organization has been named to promote the fight, but Affliction coincidentally is also having an event on July 19th which already has Matt “The Law” Lindland scheduled to fight as well.

Here’s a VERY rough translation of what Fedor Emelianenko’s website had to say regarding the fight with Sylvia:

It is stipulated in the signed contract on fight which takes place on July, 19th in America.

Also Feodor’s participation even in two fights is confirmed: in October and in December. December fight will pass traditionally in Japan: in sixth time Feodor will meet new year in [the land of] rising suns. About the one who becomes the contender of the Russian in these duels, it will be known after its meeting on a ring with Tim Sylvia.

It was already mentioned in the past by Sylvia’s manager, Monte Cox, that Sylvia’s next fight would most likely be under the new Affliction banner on a recent episode of Inside MMA.
