The UFC 103 roster has taken some drastic twists and turns since it was first announced a month ago. Octagon fans expressed their displeasure for the proposed main event and the UFC listened and swapped it out. Today, the organization announced the addition of two preliminary bouts for their return to The Lone Star State.
Scrappy lightweight Jim Miller will be taking on Thiago Tavares inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. Miller posted a convincing unanimous decision win over Mac Danzig at UFC 100 last month.
He holds a 3-1 record with the UFC, with his only loss coming at the hands of fellow rising contender Gray Maynard at UFC 96.
Tavares, on the other hand, has dropped three of his last five contests, however won his last fight against Manny Gamburyan at UFC 94 back in January.
In addition to that scrap, “The Ultimate Fighter 8” contestant Eliot Marshall will tango with Jason Brilz at the September 19th event.
Here are the other fighters slated to be competing on the pay-per-view broadcast:
Eliot Marshall vs. Jason Brilz
Drew McFedries and Tomasz Drawl
Brian Foster vs. Paul Daley
Jim Miller vs. Thiago Tavares
Efrain Escudero vs. Cole Miller
Hermes Franca vs. Tyson Griffin
Frank Trigg vs. Josh Koshcheck
Mike Swick vs. Martin Kampmann
Junior dos Santos vs. Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic
Rich Franklin vs. Vitor Belfort (195-pound Catchweight Bout)
