MMAFighting has confirmed the search for a replacement to face BJ Penn at UFC 132 has been called off after the Hawaiian suffered an undisclosed injury. The former multi-divisional champion was slated the headline the July 2nd event opposite Jon Fitch, but Fitch was forced to pull out last week with what’s believed to be a shoulder injury.

Carlos Condit and Anthony Johnson were the rumored front runners to land the gig against Penn, however it appears the 32-year-old won’t be able to answer the bell.

Penn and Fitch both agreed to an immediate rematch shortly after their highly controversial draw at UFC 127.

No word from the company regarding a timetable for either of their returns.

UFC 132 takes place inside the Mandalay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. A bantamweight title fight between Urijah Faber and champion Dominick Cruz will headline the pay-per-view broadcast.

Here are the athletes expected to participate in the show:

Preliminary Bouts:

Erik Koch vs Cub Swanson
Dennis Siver vs. Matt Wiman
Melvin Guillard vs. Shane Roller

Main Bouts:

George Sotiropoulos vs. Evan Dunham
Tito Ortiz vs. Ryan Bader
Wanderlei Silva vs. Chris Leben
Urijah Faber vs. Dominick Cruz (UFC Bantamweight Champion)
