Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal’s highly anticipated return to the hexagon will in fact go down at “Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum.” The former light heavyweight champ will face Ovince St. Preux inside the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
While King Mo’s participation in the June 18th show didn’t come in a formal company press release, the card’s event poster let the cat out of the proverbial bag.
The little known St. Preux holds a 10-4 professional record and was last seen taking a unanimous decision victory over Ron Humphrey at “Strikeforce: Challengers 13.” He’ll be riding a seven-fight winning streak into their showdown.
Lawal, on the other hand, is looking to bounce back from his only pro blemish. Unfortunately for the Team Reign affiliated wrestler, Rafael Cavalcante also took his 205-pound crown at “Strikeforce: Houston” in the process.
The second-leg of Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand Prix will headline the party. Josh Barnett will fight Brett Rogers in an opening round matchup, while Alistair Overeem faces Fabricio Werdum in the tourney’s last quarterfinals bout.
Showtime will broadcast the event beginning at 10PM ET/PT.
