Former interim heavyweight champion Shane Carwin has a pretty big test coming up at UFC 131. Unfortunately for the charismatic slugger, there isn’t much information available on Jon Olav Einemo. However, like nearly everything else on God’s green earth, YouTube provided some material on the Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist.
“I call him ‘J.O.E.’ and he is not too well known. He has [been] plagued with injuries that have kept him sidelined. At one point in his career, people considered him one of the few guys in Pride that could beat Fedor. J.O.E. never got that chance,” Carwin posted on his blog. “As many of you know, I was just looking for a fight. I really did not care who I was fighting and this is who the UFC came up with.
“It is a dangerous fight because if his talents and the fact that he trains with big guys, so he won’t be too affected by my size. I really do not know much more about him other then what you see below or his silly YouTube videos calling me out.”
Carwin owns an impressive 12-1 professional record, with all of his wins coming by way of devastating finish. Although he hasn’t been seen getting submitted by Brock Lesnar at UFC 116 in July 2010, he promises the Carwin Army will be bouncing back strong.
“I will be in the best shape of my life, I hope J.O.E. is ready,” he stated.
UFC 131 takes place June 11th inside the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.
