Budding welterweight star Brian Foster has announced a brain hemorrhage will force him out of his “UFC 129: St-Pierre vs. Shields” contest against Sean Pierson.
“I’m sry to all my fans but I won’t be fighting in Toronto, my MRI came back and u have a brain hemorrhage! I’m so sry,” Foster tweeted just moments ago.
MMAWeekly spoke with Foster’s manager shortly after his post. Marc Fiore told the website a pre-fight exam revealed Foster had a leaking blood vessel in his brain that caused it to hemorrhage.
Foster will revisit his doctors in six weeks to be reevaluated. The results will determine what the next step will be in regards to his future.
The UFC confirmed Foster’s injury by re-tweeting his post, but the company did not verify who would step in to face Pierson.
Foster holds a 15-5 professional record. He was last seen submitting Matt Brown at UFC 123.
