Ed Herman Steps In to Face Wilson Gouveia at UFC 102

It was reported earlier today that an injury would force James Irvin out of his UFC 102 scrap against Wilson Gouveia. It appears the organization wasted no time in finding his replacement as Ed Herman will sub-in with less than four week’s notice to make the August 29th appointment.

A source close to the negotiations told Sherdog.com the middleweight bout is all but done, with the two meeting inside the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon.

Herman, a member of Matt Lindland’s local Team Quest, took a unanimous decision over David Loiseau at UFC 97 last April. Herman was the runner-up on “The Ultimate Fighter 3,” however has had an up-and-down Octagon career posting just a 4-4 record in the UFC.

Gouveia is only .500 over his last four fights, which includes a devastating knockout loss to Nate Marquardt at UFC 95 last January. The American Top Team-trained fighter holds a career mark of 12-6.

Here is an updated roster for the pay-per-view broadcast:

Preliminary Bouts:

Wilson Gouveia vs Ed Herman

Nate Marquardt vs. Damian Maia
