After taking an extended hiatus following their New Year’s Eve extravaganza, Dream is rigorously filling out the fight card for their May 29th event inside the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Today, company officials announced Joachim Hansen will meet Mitsuhiro Ishida and Caol Uno will face Akiyo Nishiura at “Dream.17: Fight for Japan.”
Hansen lost his Dream lightweight title to Shinya Aoki in late 2009 and immediately followed it up with two consecutive defeats. However, the 31-year-old has since rallied to pick up back-to-back submission wins over Hideo Tokoro at Dream.16 and Sami Aziz at Super Challenge 6.
Ishida migrated back to the Land of the Rising Sun after getting humbled by Gilbert Melendez in a Strikeforce interim-title fight in August 2009. He has since posted two straight wins for Dream.
Uno and Nishiura, on the other hand, are in desperate need of a win. Uno is coming into the contest with a disappointing 1-5-1 record over his last 7 fights, while Nishiura has hung a lackluster 2-4 mark over his previous six contests.
While nothing official has been announced, HDNet is hoping to broadcast the show live in North America.
