UFC welterweight Jon Fitch had successful shoulder surgery Thursday in Los Angeles, California. Prior to getting stung by the injury bug, Fitch was slated to headline UFC 132 opposite BJ Penn.
The 33-year-old tweeted multiple post-op pictures yesterday and said he felt “like a million bucks,” despite his wounded right haymaker.
Fitch is expected to be sidelined for the next four to six months.
Shortly after Fitch’s shoulder issues surfaced, it was revealed Penn suffered an undisclosed injury and would also be pulled from the July 2nd card.
The 170-pounders fought to a highly controversial (29-28 Fitch, 28-28, 28-28) majority draw at UFC 127. After 15 grueling minutes of action, two of the three judges deemed there wasn’t enough evidence inside the Octagon to declare a definitive welterweight top contender.
