And then there were 10, as in only ten bouts remaining on UFC 130‘s roster after Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard were forced out with injuries on the same day. Although the event poster has yet to be updated, the card has officially changed its title to “Rampage vs. Hamill” in honor of the show’s new headliners.
With the lightweights exiting the May 28th event just days before the curtain is drawn, each bout in the lineup moves up a slot. That’s particularly good news for several fighters who should get larger sponsorship purses courtesy of their added exposure.
Thiago Alves and Rick Story vacated their spot on Spike TV’s live “UFC Prelims” show and will appear in the pay-per-view portion of event. Kendall Grove’s match against Tim Boetsch was promoted to air on the edgy network.
The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada will host the star-studded card. A light heavyweight affair between former champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Matt Hamill is the night’s featured attraction.
The heavyweight scrap between Frank Mir and Roy Nelson will now serve as the card’s co-main event.
