June 4th will mark one complete reality season since Jonathan Brookins earned his six-figure UFC contract on The Ultimate Fighter 12. Unfortunately for those that were hoping to see the submission specialist break in his new deal at “The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale,” it appears an eye injury will keep him out of his lightweight scrap against Jeremy Stephens.

The Octagon show must go on, as the UFC quickly announced Danny Downes would play substitute.

Brookins defeated Michael Johnson this past December to take the TUF 12 tournament. He was slated to face John Makdessi at UFC 129, but was also forced off that card with an injury.

“The Ultimate Fighter 13 Finale” takes place inside the Pearl at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. Spike TV will broadcast the show live at 9PM ET/6PM PT.

Here are the athletes expected to participate in the freebie fight card:

Reuben Duran vs. Francisco Rivera
Scott Jorgensen vs. Ken Stone
Josh Grispi vs. George Roop
Tim Credeur vs. Ed Herman
Kyle Kingsbury vs. Fabio Malonado
Danny Downes vs. Jeremy Stephens
TUF 13 Finalist # 1 vs. TUF 13 Finalist # 2
Anthony Pettis vs. Clay Guida
