The UFC has confirmed Dan Hardy will meet Chris Lytle on August 15th at “UFC on Versus 5.” The welterweight shootout takes place inside the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
“It is exactly the fight I wanted. Chris tries to finish you throughout the fight, and I’m ready for a blaze of glory,” Hardy told ThisIsNottingham. “This is the kind of fight you can define your career around. You can guarantee Chris Lytle will bring it, that he will have an exciting fight.
“We’re not high-ranking guys right now. A year or so ago I was at the top of the division, riding a four-fight win streak. I never thought my UFC career would start like that. But that’s a long time ago now, and now I’ve got it all to do again. But I’m ready for the challenge. I’m ready to claw my way up.”
Hardy owns a respectable 23-9 record, but is in the midst of a three-fight losing streak. After dropping a lopsided unanimous decision to champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 111, the slugger followed it up with a knockout loss to Carlos Condit at UFC 120 and then a decision defeat to Anthony Johnson at “UFC Fight Night 24.”
Lytle had rattled off four consecutive victories prior to his UFC 127 unanimous decision loss to Brian Ebersole. “Lights Out” holds an extensive 30–18–5 professional mark.
Versus will broadcast the show live beginning at 9PM ET/6PM PT.
