“UFC 131: Dos Santos vs. Carwin” Roster Updated, 11 Fights Confirmed

UFC Heavyweight Junior Dos Santos

The game of heavyweight musical chairs is once again complete. With Thursday’s announcement that Shane Carwin would replace Brock Lesnar in the UFC 131 main event against Junior dos Santos, Carwin’s original opponent on the card, Jon Olav Einemo, abruptly found himself dateless for the June 11th extravaganza.

The show must go on, as Olav Einemo will now face fellow Octagon rookie Dave “Pee Wee” Herman inside the Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. Herman’s original UFC 131 adversary, Joey Beltran, will now take on Aaron Rosa.

Does that make sense? Good.

The organization did not confirm whether Olav Einemo’s bout would remain in the pay-per-view portion of the night’s broadcast. It’s likely the thrilling lightweight scrap between Sam Stout and Yves Edwards will get promoted to the big show.

Carwin and dos Santos will battle for next dibs at UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez’s belt in the card’s main event.

Here is the event’s revised roster (Bout order subject to change):

Preliminary Bouts:

Darren Elkins vs. Michihiro Omigawa
Aaron Rosa vs. Joey Beltran
Nick Ring vs. James Head
Dustin Poirier vs. Jason Young

(Spike TV 8PM ET/5PM PT)

Chris Weidman vs. Jesse Bongfeldt
Sam Stout vs. Yves Edwards

Main Bouts:

Jon Olav Einemo vs. Dave Herman
Kenny Florian vs. Diego Nunes
Demian Maia vs. Mark Munoz
Mac Danzig vs. Donald Cerrone
Shane Carwin vs. Junior dos Santos
